A Legacy of Books Since 1970
It is almost more than 50 years, where my father was the first one to have a shop in Deobai Lane. We are actually the original book shop with the name “Jagdish Book Depot” in full Mumbai.
Our book shop began with a simple idea: to make books accessible to the people around us.
What we value is something different — knowing our customers, understanding what they are looking for, and helping them find the right book.
Over the years, our shop became part of the everyday life of the neighbourhood. Students have come looking for textbooks, parents for their children's books, readers for their next novel, and customers for books they couldn't find elsewhere.
It's about the conversations that happen across the counter, the recommendations, the familiar faces, and the satisfaction of finding exactly what you came looking for.

We Know Our Customers
Many of our customers aren't just names on a bill. They're students, parents, teachers, readers and families who have been coming to us for years.
We Care About the Neighbourhood
A book shop is more than a place where books are sold. It's a place where a child discovers their first favourite story, or a reader comes for their favourite novel.
A Small Shop with a Big Love for Books
And the people who come here and read them.
Making Books Easier to Find.
Our mission is simple: to make it easier for people to find the right book at the right time.
Our goal is not simply to sell more books. It is to build lasting relationships with our customers, make books more accessible, and keep the joy of discovering a good book alive.
